Private Home vs. Strip Hotel: Where Should Your Golf Group Actually Stay?

We ran the real numbers on a private vacation home vs. Strip hotel rooms for a golf group — cost per person, logistics, recovery, and which one actually makes the trip better.

Private Home vs. Strip Hotel: Where Should Your Golf Group Actually Stay?

Every golf group hits this fork in the road: split up across a Strip hotel, or rent one big house? We've watched hundreds of groups make both choices. Here's the honest comparison.

The math for a group of 8 (3 nights)

Strip hotel: four double rooms at a realistic $220/night average (resort fees included) = $2,640, plus $40–60/day parking per car, plus $9 coffees. Private home: a 5-bedroom pool home at $650/night = $1,950 total, with free parking, a full kitchen, and a pool that doesn't require a $150 daybed rental. Per person over three nights: roughly $330 hotel vs. $245 home — before the hotel extras pile on.

The gap widens with group size. At 12–16 people, an estate at $1,200–1,500/night beats hotel math by 30–40%, and you get amenities no hotel gives you: private pools, game rooms, putting greens, and a driveway for the rental SUVs.

What hotels do better

Walkability to nightlife, daily housekeeping, and zero coordination. If your trip is 80% casino and 20% golf, stay on the Strip — genuinely. But if golf is the spine of the trip, the hotel's advantages disappear fast: you're driving to every course anyway, and the 25 minutes from a Henderson or Summerlin home is the same drive as escaping the Strip's parking garage.

What the house does better (for golfers specifically)

  • Morning logistics: one kitchen, one caravan, everyone leaves together — no lobby roll call
  • The 19th hole: pool, BBQ, and card table with no last call and no $28 cocktails
  • Recovery: real bedrooms and blackout quiet instead of a resort tower at 2 a.m.
  • Non-golfers: pools, spas and game rooms keep the rest of the crew happy while you play
  • Cost control: one bill, split evenly, known in advance

The hybrid nobody tells you about

Plenty of our groups do two nights in a home (golf days) and one final night on the Strip (blowout night). Because our packages price per-person per-night, it's easy to run both scenarios and compare. Either way: book the golf and the beds together — it's one decision, one price, and about 20% less on the golf than booking each course yourself.
